Initial Consultation: After filling out the necessary paperwork, Dr. Bartz will take a thorough history of your current problem and any previous health concerns to gain a better understanding of your condition. Afterward, treatment options will be discussed with you. The initial visit usually may or may not include a treatment, depending on the individual patient’s condition.
Examination: During this time, various orthopedic, range of motion and neurological tests will be performed. This time will be used to see how your body moves and based upon those findings, determine if x-rays need to be performed.
X-rays: X-rays enable the doctor to see the condition of your bones and the positions they are in. The X-rays demonstrate how far the bones are out of place, in what direction, and what has to be done to correct the vertebral misalignments of your spine. These misalignments are what Chiropractors refer to as Subluxations.
Diagnosis: The information gained from your consultation, examination, and x-rays are used to accurately determine the chiropractic diagnoses. In doing so, Dr. Bartz will be able to accurately begin the reduction and correction of the vertebral subluxation and the related components of your spine.
The Adjustment: To reduce the vertebral subluxation of your spine, a specific spinal adjustment is applied to your subluxated vertebrae to begin the correction process. Based upon the information gathered in the processes mentioned above, an adjusting plan is tailored as to what will work best for you. With the adjustment, the vertebrae is starting to retrain and return to it’s original position so it starts to free up the spinal nerve flow allowing for proper communication in the body to occur. In addition to the chiropractic adjustment, you may be treated using both active and passive therapies. Active care includes rehabilitative exercises to normalize joint and muscle function. These therapies consist of stretching, strengthening and proprioception/coordination exercises. The passive therapies include the actual chiropractic techniques as well as modalities such as ultrasound, interferential current, various soft tissue techniques, TENS, and mechanical traction. We find the therapies that will work best to help your body to heal quickly and to improve your function for the future. When subluxations are corrected, the body's normal homeostasis occurs which means better body function and eventually relief from your symptoms.
